Sushi-Go-Round (Washington, DC)

We’re so excited about this soon-to-open sushi restaurant, that we decided we’d let you know about it before the grand opening.  The selection of food and wine will be of the same high quality you find at BLUEFIN, a popular sushi bar/lounge in the heart of Adams Morgan, but it’s the concept that will have everyone talking.  Remember that I Love Lucy episode where she’s working the assembly line?  How about a conveyor belt with color-coded Japanese dishes and amazingly fresh sushi?  Just grab what you want as it “swims” by.  For those into a more traditional dining experience, there will be a more formal (and pricey) dining area.  Favorites you’ll see from BLUEFIN’s menu will be the coffee-crusted lamb with thyme soy reduction and Japanese pumpkin, and the grilled cold water lobster tail flavored with yuzu uni butter and Asian ratatouille. Opening soon.

Sushi Taro (Washington, DC)

Sushi Taro defiantly states they have the longest sushi counter in the city.  And who can argue – I’ve never seen six sushi chefs at one bar anywhere else in the DC area.  Bright-colored kimonos and blue caps decorate the waitresses and chefs, while charming rice paper screens and the sushi counter complete the inside.  As for their specialty, Sushi Taro is best known for the fresh quality of their sushi. Their other standouts include: Spanish Mackerel with Miso Paste, Black Cod with Sake Paste, and Whole Salt-Broiled Pike (only available at dinner).
