Thai Square (Arlington, VA)

Thai Square is a treat for those seeking to revisit one of the great restaurants they experienced when they visited Thailand.  It has mastered the art of preserving original Thai recipes such as curry, fresh seafood and mouth watering vegetarian dishes, and delivering them in perfection to the mainstream.  Our favorite meal starts with a Tom Yum Talay soup filled with Shrimp, Scallops, Squid and Straw Mushrooms, then moves to the house specialty Crispy Duck, fried to perfection with honey.  Don’t forget to order the thick and flavorful Thai Ice Tea.

Bob’s Noodle (Rockville, MD)

Ok, we’re Asian ourselves.  But we use the same barometer as non-Asians to figure out where the food is authentic: How many Asian people are eating there?  At Bob’s Noodle, lots of ‘em.  It’s always crowded because owner Bob Liu offers his guests authentic Taiwanese cuisine at a bargain price.  Don’t let the fare like Spicy Pig Ear and Intestine Pig Blood with Sour Mustard scare you off, it’s really good!  Not convinced?  No worries because more Western dishes abound.  You should also come for lunch when you can order the Manila Clams with Basil, Squid with Chinese Celery, Spinach with Garlic, and your choice of a soup all for less than twenty dollars.  Or any of three of the countless other dishes and a soup for the same price.
